During their years of tireless creative urge, Robert and Charles Ingersoll, the founders of some of the oldest American watch manufacturers, established many milestones within the field of developing pocket and wrist watches. They followed an ambitious plan that incorporated on the one hand, to supply watches to the broad public, and then again to supply reasonable prices at the same time as keeping up real quality. In 1892, way to Henry Ford, they succeeded in developing an automated method of production, first for pocket watches and later for wrist watches. Alongside the prevailing hand made production of Ingersoll watches, an automated production of watches used to be established.
With prime quality and precision, on the very fair price of 1 dollar (which used to be a day’s wages on the time) the so-referred to as “Dollar-Watch” used to be born. The Dollar-Watch changed into so popular that about 1 million of those watches were produced. Even Theodore Roosevelt mentioned that throughout his hunting commute in Africa he used to be described as “the person from the rustic where Ingersoll used to be produced.”
The luck of the “Dollar Watch” (also known as the “Yankee”) from then on used to be amazing. The Ingersoll brothers needed to adapt to increasing production and extending production plants. Meanwhile, the product range had been expanded by some technical pioneering refinements. Also the production of the smallest pocket watch ever seen had begun. In 1919 the Ingersoll brothers developed the primary watch with the so referred to as “night design”, the “Radiolite” with luminous dial.
